Muffler questions?

hi everyone,
i am newbie, i owned a 87' 3.2 carrera and everything is stock except for a chip(SW) and drop in filter. After reading all the threads about different sport mufflers and mods your stock muffler i was curious if anyone or heard of someone fabricate a 930 euro muffler to their car? would this give a little more free flow than the banana stock muffler? and how about sounds?

Your opinions and thoughts is greatly appreciated!!

I suppose it could be done but with no gain in performance though. There are tons of options although none are to cheap. I biased so I will let someone else answer for you

There's a fella on Pelican who makes mufflers that seems to have a pretty darn good reputation for quality.

Hmmmm. What's his name?

Oh, yeah. Ben AKA mb911

Read this info and you can decide for yourself.

Thumbs up

I found aftermarket P mufflers to be crazy expensive, so I figured it out myself.

I got a Flowmaster 80 series crossflow muffler #42583 and some MagnaFlow mandrel bent elbows and fabricated my own for about $200. Summit racing has everything you will need.

The sound is great: several people have come up to me at the track and asked about it.

The tricky part was fabricating the mounting brackets. If I get some time, I’ll post some pics.

Also consider Dynomax Ultra Flow. Less than $200, considerably less noise than a Flowmaster, and better flow too. If you're stuck on getting something that is a direct bolt on product, you will pay a price premium. It will look very pretty... Every time you have your car on a lift, you can enjoy the sight! Or, you can buy one of the above mentioned muffler's, and have some fab work done at the local muffler shop, and save yourself $$$!

If you just check out the first 30 seconds of this next clip, you can hear me wind through the gears as I enter the track... This will give you an idea of what it sounds like in the car.

I have a Flo-Pro V Force, part # V17 on my SC and love the sound. Total cost was around 150.00 installed by a local muffler shop.

Do a search on this forum and you can hear it. I can't find the thread with the video clip.

hi everyone,

thanks for all your responses and inputs... i was thinking of buying a hush power muffler, also a ss resonator and have a local muffler shop fabricate the exhaust.

i want a very mellow tone but not sacrificing the performance...

Hush power muffler is a straight through design but with sound dampening...
check it out! and let me know. thanks

I put one of those on my Jeep. It was very well made and the insulation helps stop heat from soaking into the body. It has a deep beefy sound.
