Can you guess what's missing in this photo?
Which of the three are you talking about?
I'll give you a hint, it's not in front of the lens.
for starters, the complete induction system, including injectors. Plugs might be out as well, at least they are not connected. Heat system is also off.
ac belt also.
#6 sparkplug.
You're all correct.
However the biggest thing that's missing in that photo is the idiot who thought the could change out his fuel lines in one day. And then decided he would also change-out his intake gaskets, oil pressure switch, and what the hell, lets get those injectors serviced while we're at it. |
Cool Collar, everyone has to have one.
Could you have changed out the fuel lines in a day, had you not done the other stuff?
I'm considering doing all the fuel lines, wondering how hard w/ engine in car. |
missing dirt and grime on the fan!
Motormeister decal on the fan shroud?:D
Beer
Wadded up paper towels in the intake ports to keep stray parts, dirt, and beer spills outta there ....
"Looking for a Lotus Europa " Buddy dropped by today with his 88 Espirt 2.2 turbo today and we wrung her out on some wide open Texas Farm to Market roads. The general consensus was that it wan't very exciting at 100+. Just to damn stable.

Perhaps others have some experience in this area they could share? The good news is that I found a long-lost socket hiding under the intake.. I really missed that socket. |

I admire your determination Trogg; you'll get that engine idling rock solid yet. Meanwhile mine sleeps, therefore loses. If you need a hand after Christmas let me know; I'll be happy to come by and give you hand, watch, learn, drink a beer...:DSmileWavy

Thanks for the offer Hendog. I hope to have her all back together by Friday. The injectors go in for servicing on Thursday (N.W. Fuel Injection Service in Surrey). They say they can turn them around in 1-day.
After that, my new Wasted Spark ignition system (Vitesse) goes in. |
One question for my fellow Pelicans, how the heck do you remove the residue gasket material from the intake ports? That stuff is on rock solid! Short of a rusty nail, is there a simpler way to remove the old baked-on gasket material?
try a little oven cleaner, but be careful. Just on the material that's left and don't let it soak too long, just enough to soften the gasket. Then use a scraper.
