How to install rear seat bottoms on a '82 911
I need to replace the seats on my '82 911. I puuled the old ones of and it seems they were gued down and all this hay/straw came of the old seats. A real mess!
Do I need to simply prep the surface where the seats go gy sanding smooth then glue? If so, what type of glue or is there a better procedure? Thanks |

Remove the old glue from the area with an adhesive remover. Don't sand it. Then reglue the seats using some form of contact adhesive. 3M makes several versions, available in most auto parts stores. My local upholstery guy uses a DAP contact cement (the solvent-based version.) This can be obtained in stores like Lowe's. You want an adhesive that is good with both high and low temperatures.

I used thick double sided carpet tape around the edges and elmers spray glue everywhere else. I replaced the messy straw with foam
