Since they are basically useless and take up a lot of space in the cramped 911..have any of you guys taken them out to allow more space? I wouldnt need to since i am only 5'9" but some of you people must be over 6'0"

Ripping out your rear seats isn't going to give you any more room upfront if you are taller? Not sure sure what you are trying to achieve. Unless you are on an extreme weight diet, stripping the back seats will leave you with nothing but alot of ugly unfinished sheet metal and seats gathering dust in the garage. At least thats my opinion.

I took mine out, I can't imagine trying to actually make someone, older then 6, sit back there.
I built a nice box with two 8" subs. The subs face down, and the sound is pushed out where the opening appears when you have the back seats down. They really work very well. I have squeezed two others in the passanger's seat, max capacity is now 3. ------------------ GT911 GordonTaylor@ev1.net '81 911 SC very very fun '84 BMW 318i very very economical |

89911 I meant that when your taller your legs are LONG and therefor when back seats are taken out you have more room when scooting the seat back....unless the brackets wont let you back anymore

The seat rails are what limit the seat position, not the rear seats. As far as putting any normal size human back there, I would limit their age to 10 years and less. With the seat back down, you have a nice looking parcel shelf already. As far as filling the back with amplifiers and woofers, thats not my style, but to each his own.

I'm 6'1", and I don't have my seat all the way back on the rails. In every other car I've ever owned, I've had to have the seat all the way back. Remember, this car was designed by Germans for Germans. I'm sure there are taller people on this board that can agree.

Dunno, I am 6ft6" and the porsche isn't the most comfortable car even with the seat all the way back, but it was built 30 years ago
![]() Maybe in the future, when I am able to drive it regularly I might look into re-positioning the rails for the seat. Just a thought. ------------------ '72 911E Sporto |

Hey layzee or you can just take out the front seats and sit in the back seats.... Ever seen Police Academy? Hightower gets in this little car so he rips out the front seats and sits in the back ones

Well, if you're taking a trip of any decent length, the trunk may not hold all the luggage, clothes, spare motor (!!) etc. you want to lug along.
We've found the area provided by folding down the baby seats gives you valuable additional storage space. ------------------ Doug '81 SC Coupe (aka: "Blue Bomber") Canada West Region PCA members.home.net/zielke/911SC.htm |

Has anyone just removed the hinged seat backs?
This would still give additional load space & maybe not look too ugly. I'm thinking about weight saving more than anything. I agree that the back seats are too small for anyone past the age of 10. The lack of rear seat belts means I wouldn't let anyone use them anyway. JG '76 2.7 911S |
