I've bought a 2.7 badge for my engine grill.
My car is a '76 & did not have this, the earlier cars did. How does it attach? I bought 2 badge clips but the back is plain. Looking at the grill I can't see a plinth to glue it to or similar. Looking at the parts diagram the engine grill is the same from '74 thro' '84. Anyone got a '74 (impact bumper) 2.7 that can help? Also in the same vein, can I backdate my mirrors to the round Durrant type fitted to the '74 or is the fixing totally different? Thanks, Jon '76 2.7 911S |

Not sure about the grille. i think the post '75 cars have the plastic grille, where it's not supposed to mount the letters on. But I am not sure.
The mirrors are totally different. I expect you to have the electric mirrors already. In this case, you have to close the mounting holes in the door and add new ones. The reason is, that the mounting location is different. BTW: Don't try to install an early style mirror on the passenger side. Hard to get - and you will see nothing. Only your passenger will.

Jon,
My 74 is totally stock and did not come with a 2.7 badge. The grill on mine is not black like the later ones but a dull silvery color. I also do not recommend a passenger side mirror..useless. If you want to replace the electric ones with the 74 style you will be left with 3 large holes in the sheet metal and I don't have a clue how to fix that one. ------------------ Dan S. 1974 911 Targa |
