I believe that Syntec 20W-50 was mentioned in the ultimate oil thread but the amount of zinc and phosphorus still wasn't adequate(??).

I guess the big question is have they changed the formula recently or since that oil thread was started?

The interesting thing here is that all of the discussion on the internet about oil and zddp and older cars and such, is being heard by the big oil companies.

Or, at least their sales & marketing departments.

One of the problems with Castrol was that it "used up" its ZDDP early in the oil change cycle. This could be the same...?

I looked at that web page and am intrigued but disappointed, I would like for them to provide some "techincal" data about the oil like what API spec it meets (SG, SJ etc) without the marketing hype.

I tried to find this product at Autozone with no luck. The product data sheet says API SM, SL and so forth. That said, it is probably still a much better choice than their 5w50 Syntec. The question is, is it any better than the 5w40 API SL rated Syntec?

Charles, as I noted, that is their 7/2007 data sheet. who is driving this information, the Tech department or the marketing department?
