Folks,
The idea strikes me as a little crazy too, but is it practical to tow trailers with a 1987 911? Hugh [This message has been edited by hughsheehy (edited 03-21-2001).] |

Hugh,
There is a guy around here that tows a 25' sailboat with his 84 Targa. Do-able, I guess, but wouldn't a Suburban be better (for the Porsche)? ------------------ Doug '81 SC Coupe (aka: "Blue Bomber") Canada West Region PCA members.home.net/zielke/911SC.htm |

What are you going to tow? A few tires and some gear with a light tongue weight of a hundred pounds or so, OK. A car transporter or anything else would be crazy. Ferdinand did not include "towing capacity" with his goal of the 911.

May I say, the setup is magnficient. Being a graduate of the North Avenue Trade School (GT) I must say the tag is the best part (Although the car ain't bad either). Go Jackets Sting 'em!!!

Does anyone know where to get a hitch? I know about the place in Florida that makes track trailers but they don't sell the hitch separately. Thanks!

Doug, Folks,
Iīll agree that a Suburban is better as a tow car than a 911, but a 911 is easier to park than a 911 AND a Suburban, and cheaper too, and I already have a 911.. I saw the crowd in Florida, http://www.southsporttrailers.com/hitch.html, but they donīt do anything other than selling custom track day trailers, and wonīt sell the hitch by itself (a stupid policy if ever i heard it) and I have not found any information anywhere else. A 911 has many of the features of a good trailing car - big engine, big tyres, good brakes - but itīs a little shorter and lighter than, say, a Suburban.. so I was curious about the real practicality. As for what to tow, I was thinking of the 25 ft sailboat..... Hugh |
