I believe you're not getting any replies because your post is, at least to me, incomprehensible. I've never heard the term "pulley keeper," don't know what it is and therefore can't help, although I can assemble and disassemble a 911 fanbelt pulley blindfolded...

pardon me steve
i have blown two fan belts before taking the motor out of my 914 with a 3.0sc engine installed i do not have a cut out in my firewall so i dropped the engine to detail, with intentions of addressing the fanbelt issues as well..... so.... on observation of the fan belt pulley it was noted the pulley half had been rocking on what i am calling the "pulley keeper"( that is the nut that holds the pulley and fan in place) damaging both the pulley half and the "part"(nut/ pulley keeper) in question my question is "can the nut be taken off seperately from the fan or is this "part" inseperable, as this "part"(nut/pulley keeper) and the pulley half will both need to be replaced" that should further muddy the already muddy waters |

Okay, so you're saying that some kind of mis-tightening or cross-threading of the big nut boogered up the rearmost half of the fanbelt pulley. What is damaged? The alternator shaft? The shaft threads? The rear half of the pulley? The nut? I'm having a hard time getting a handle on what your problem is, other than that currently, the pulley is "rocking," which I assume means it's turning eccentrically.

Your fan center hub probably has got some ridges developed from the movement of the outer pulley half. A good Porsche shop should be able to take your fan center, weld it up the ridges and remachine the center hub shaft.
The outer pulley half is junk if it is got rounded edges, buy a replacement from our host. Get the right number of shims in there and you are good to go. Make sure you have the circular center washer going the right way too. Search the site for exploded diagrams. I had my fan restored last month by a shop (Eisenbuds) here in Denver for $90. Hope this helps. YMMV

Not sure if Eisenbud does out-of-town type work but he might. He is a great crusty, Porsche mechanic. 303 825 0322
He does work on unique scheduling system though.... YMMV
