los angeles based EFI tuners

I have been reading about EFI for weeks now and am seriously considering going there on my latest build. I have read most every relevant thread and am narrowing in on an ecu but wanted to see if anyone had any recomends in my area as I feel that the most important thing in deciding on a system will be the quality of support that I can get locally. Here are a few things you should know. I feel that the tuner and the ecu must be matched so i guess i'm asking for the tuners preferred ecu's as well

The car is a street car so I don't need all the bells and whistles.
I have pretty much ruled out Motec based on cost.
Clewett/Electromotive is an obvious choice but reviews seem very mixed on the elctromotive ecus.
I am not afraid of megasquirt and am a competent with similar systems. my weaknes would be in the tuning, not the installation.
cost is somewhat of a factor.

any input is greatly appreciated.
