Grey Market Importers For The '70's And '80s???
I have a European Carrera #9114600350 and the importer is listed as "Timothy M. Fox" on the door jamb tag. I am trying to research the history of the vehicle and would be interested to know if this the the name of the individual who brought the car in, or a company. I have tried google and have had no luck.

That will be the "importer". Back then you only needed an auto dealers liscense to import and federalize a car. The standards were very lax and many of these "fly by night" guys went broke or to prison for dealing in commodities other than cars. Not very good odds on finding him.

timothy j fox was the importer of record. You have no way of knowing if he did the conversion himself or used an outside service to federalize the car.

But there should be a DoT and EPA release(2 sepatate documents) in the documentation, at least that's what I got after the DoT compliance work was done.
