Question 912e exhaust ideas

Hi guys:

Anyone have any experience "making" exhaust systems for a 912E? My car has needed heat exchangers for years, but I could never find a pair.

Exhaust parts for this car are about as common as Warren not knowing the answer to some obscure 911 trivia question.

Any ideas? The car isn't driven in cold weather, so ditching the heat exchangers for some wild exhaust system isn't a bad idea.

TIA for your thoughts.

David,

You need to get a copy of Hot VW's,[/b] and get in contact with some of the suppliers specializing in Type 4 engines. A set of merged-collector 1-5/8" ceramic-coated header/muffler system for a Type 4 Bus engine will probably fit your engine with minor changes to relocate the 'quiet power' muffler for a fender-well location. You might even be able to have it come out in the right place! Good luck!

Thanks Warren.

As always, I am never surprised when your knowledge goes beyond your early "S" and applies to obscure models like my "911S/4"

Dave,

My friend just totalled his 912E and sold the thing to Campbell Nelson in the Seattle area. The car was in pretty decent shape. I know both heat exchangers worked well.

You might want to give them a call. There were a lot of good parts on that car....
