Talking Clutch adjustment

Now that i have everything in, I need to adjust the clutch cable. How do I know what is right? Can I just adjust it all the way out, or is that to loose?

On my 72, i push the clutch in about 10 times. Then pull the pedal toward myself. Should be 1\2" play. That's what the book say's and it works fine for me.
