Gasket Material Needed

I need some very thin gasket material. .010 or .005 preferably. It's for a fuel shut-off valve, so it needs to be fuel resistant and able to withstand the valve "ball" rotating against it. Paper material won't work.

Suggestions would be appreciated. Sources for purchasing a relatively small amount would be appreciated too.

Thanks.

Scott

Might try a pure alum shim stock like this one 9536K14 from http://www.mcmaster.com/

Interesting idea. I'd never considered aluminum as a gasket material.

Thanks!

How about copper?

You're not going to be flying around with an experimental gasket in your fuel valve are you? :-)

A friend of mine who does a lot of work on vintage motorcycles makes thin aluminum shims from aluminum drink cans.
