race seats for my sc

I am installing a cobra evolution gt in my 81 sc. I am mounting the seats in a fixed position directly to the floor. My problem is that I've cut the old original mounts off and the side mounts for the seat are to wide. They hit the tunnel on the right side and the sill area on the left, has anyone encountered this and what did you do to overcome it? By the way I'm 6'0 tall.
