Fender Electrical Plug

I decided today to bite the bullet and remove the passenger side fender today to determine how bad any rust under it might be. To my pleasant surprise, there was not rust (lots of dirt). I wanted to completely remove the fender, but the connector at the inner fender was still attached. There's a lot of paint, etc. on the connector and I can't tell how it comes out.

How does this connector remove?

Can you be more specific about which "connector" you are talking about?

It's the female connector that goes to the headlights and parking lights. It mounts on the iner fender well.

The connector on the inside is the male portion - Take a look at the image. The female portion is on the outside and protrudes slightly into the trunk area when fitted into the opening.

If possible, hold on to the female connector from above the battery box and gently rock the male plug while pulling on it - Key word "gently".

Hope this helps.

I have the connector disconnected. I took the male off last year when I replaced the suspension pan. Does the female onnector just pull out of the hole?

Yes it does. It has a groove around it that secures it in the hole in the metal of the inner fender. Sometimes you can "rock it out" as pozee says. I just take a flat blade screwdriver and carefully push the top inside lip of the female plug down under the metal and through the hole, and then it comes out pretty easily. One thing that may stand in your way is the undercoating covering the plug on the inside of the fender well. I just take a flat blade screwdriver and press in around the circumference of the plug to break the undercoating loose, and then push it out from the inside with the screwdriver.
