Another kinda new member

Hello to all,
I have been buying parts from Wayne and the rest of the group at Pelican for years but it wasn't till bout 4 months ago that I was enlightened to this part of the site. I fell like Belushi in the Blue's Brothers movie as "I have seen the light"!!

I have enjoyed the postings on here and learn something new almost every day. I have owned my P-car for over 7 years. Is currently getting a new top and finished with a new paint job ( or so I have been told for over 2 years http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/huil.gif) and should be done soon. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/clap.gif

Lets just say that if you are looking for a place for upholstery and paint work in SE Va. I can tell you where NOT to go! Oh well at least when I get it back it will be like experiencing the feeling of driving it for the first time all over again.

I look fore-ward to learning even more from the vast knowledge pool on this site. Oh and that is my brothers 83 944 peeking in the pic. Sorry about the quality of the pic as it is a scan of the one I keep in my locker at work. Better ones to follow once I get the car back.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1199725744.jpg

Welcome ...

you are a far more patient man than I ... although it took more than 40 years to get my first Porsche now that I've got it there is no way I would sit by quietly for a week or two, much less two years while a shop was doing a repaint ...

A friend of mine struck a deal with a the owner of a paint shop (he knew the guy personally) to trade a beautiful Chevy PU street rod for a minor amount of body work and a "good paint job" on a '61 Chevy bubble top.

"I'll be getting to it soon", "My shops too busy right now", etc etc ....

6 years later we pulled up to the body shop with a trailer, made the shop owner pull the car, now partially disassembled, with parts in boxes spread out over two business locations, out of a back corner of the shop and hauled it out.

The shop owner had enjoyed 6 years of free use of a fine custom pu and my buddy got the ...

Be careful ... stay on that shop ... he might waiting on you to loose interest so he can claim rights on it ... time is on his side ...

I have heard all the excuses as your friend did from the body shop.

The car should have the top done Thurs. This is the second one as the first was for the 86-89 911 and had the small rear window. They also decided to put about 14 stainless steel (read bright silver visible from the space station) snaps on the top for the boot attachment. There are only supposed to be 10 black ones. I had to buy black snaps myself from a vendor to give to them.

The body shop kept giving me the ol just another month and she'll be done. Then they tell me that the tail they bought to replace my stress and heat cracked factory tail was actually worse than my tail, six months later after buying it. I had to take my tail to another body shop who fixed it then returned it to original shop.

These places were supposed to be some of of the better shops in our area, all I am seeing is special olympic contestants. that being said they are very polite and nice every week when I show up to make their life miserable.

At least I have had two years worth of indoor storage, and the mileage has not increased. They already paid for and had the fuel system and tank flushed and the oil changed and a tune up performed because they are taking sooooooo long.
