Brad Penn versus Royal Purple

Anyone have a recommendation? I have a couple cases of Royal Purp sitting downstairs but I've heard a lot of chatter on here about Brad Penn lately. What's the advantages/disadvantages of both?

I think the Brad Penn has more zinc in it or something? Royal purple is synthetic though, which in my experience is always better. . . Not sure about Brad Penn - I've just never used it before and want to learn more.

I just switched from Royal Purple Max Cycle to Brad Penn - mostly because of the price - they performed similiar in Charles testing - The max cycle has a little more antiwear - and is full synthetic - the brad penn is a semi synthetic.

I did not notice any difference in either the sound of the car or performance after the change.

We used Royal Purple Racing 21 in our Grand AM Audi S4's for 5 years with no oil related issues. We felt the the motor would spin faster with the lighter oil and the turbos did not have any oil problems.

We also used Royal Purple Longrider in the rig C15 Cat, again no oil related issues.

I use Brad Penn in my 356 and early 911's.

As Charles' research shows not all oils are ideal for every application.

I just put Brad Penn 20w50 in my SC. A small downside was that I noticed a few more drips from my valve covers. But the plus is that after 2000 miles I haven't needed to add any oil, so it seems like I have much less consumption of oil than my previous 20w50 Valvoline VR-1.
