Question chin spoiler

would putting an after market S chin spoiler on my 911T give me more stability at high way speeds 65 - 70 or would it be a waste of money. Currently I have about 40lbs of extra weight in the front but it doesn't seem to help much. If I have a passenger with me 180lbs it seems to help. If there is much wind it seems worse also

I'm sorry I can't answer your question specifically because my '73T doesn't have an S spoiler (although I want to add one purely for the look).

However, I don't have any stability problems at the speeds you are talking about either. I'm just wondering if there might not be a specific cause for your problem other than aerodynamics...

I added a chin spoiler and a duck tail to my SC and it made a huge difference. Any way you can reduce air getting underneath the car should help you over 60-75 m.p.h.

I don't know what else to look for? It just feels like it is light in the front when on the highway. A windy day makes it worse. Maybe I am just not use to it. This is my first Porsche. It could also be the imediate response from the steering compared my Honda?

I had the whale tail on my SC, found the front end very light and unstable at highway speeds, although it did look good though. I put on the chin spoiler and it made a very noticeable difference at highway speed. Hard to believe a small piece of rubber would make that difference!

I think for this discussion we need to stick with the early cars and an S spoiler.

The steering is real light. I've heard it referred to as telepathic. Remember we are also talking about a car that is lighter than the later cars too. Add to that the 1970's aerodynamics and period wheels and tires and everything might be just the way it's supposed to be.

I know at highway speeds my '73 feels light and nimble but it doesn't float. Just goes exactly where you want it with minimal driver input....

Yes, it will help a lot, I know when we did this to a buddy's 71 (and a duck tail) it made a huge difference on the straight at the track.

Looking at the pic, it would help noticably to lower the front end... at least an inch.

That will decrease the amount of air getting under the front of the car. Spoiler will help as well, but it's too high.

what tyre pressures are you running?
how old are the tyres?
might be something with that as well
just a few pounds of air makes a lot of difference I have found

It should drive well at 90mph. If not tweak the suspension, tires, corner balance, etc.
