New member, Old dream
Hi everyone,
Forgive me for not introducing myself right away, I have been coming here for almost a year reading articles to gain valuable information from members, but only joined the forum a few days ago. I was so excited that jumped right into asking questions and forgot to introduce myself. From as far back as I can remember while still a young boy, I literally dreamed of Racing a Porsche around a race track. Having raised a family and putting their needs before my own, my own dreams were put on the back burner for 30 years. The kids are grown and gone now as well as the wife.. lol So I have finally reached a point in my life where I was able to self indulge just a little. I decided the time had come to live out some of my dreams so I did some research and reversed engineered the Porsche model that would suit my needs. This led me to choosing an 1987 911. For us living in the Great White (snow) areas of Ontario Canada 87 and older means no required emission testing. Big bonus, when you plan on having fun building up your baby and taking to the track. 87 also brought out the G50 trans, another bonus and lastly It was more affordable allowing funds to reinvest in upgrades. Our market of used 911 is very limited In comparison to that in the U.S. so it took almost 9 months of searching before finding my Baby. I included a photo below. We were united in Nov 2007, and the Love affair is growing daily! Re the name, Well is there anything sweeter than the howl of a P-engine when she is given you all shes got? Hence the name "Dynamo Hum" I want to thank everyone for the support and information that they give on this site. Sincerely Paul ![]()

Before I got to the point of your user name and plate, I had a flashback to a Frank Zappa concert where he sang that song. Thanks for the morning chuckle.

Thanks for welcoming me.
The cute little Blond in the Photo is my Navigator. And yes the Porsche has priority in the Garage over the Stang, this was the maiden trip home, just pulled in to the driveway after a beautiful 5 hour drive. She sang to me all the way home, never even turned on the radio the sound from the engine is music to my ears! I think I got it bad! lol

Hey, congrats! You're right, finding just the right 911 in Ontario isn't easy. I'm surprised you didn't shop in the states. Where did you find it?
Gorgeous car. Will we be seeing her (and you of course) at Mosport this summer?

I did the same thing when I brought Hester home! I pulled into the driveway, jumped out, and grabbed the camera! Hester didn't even come with a radio and I don't miss it. I love listening to her rev! Good luck.

Funny thing while shopping I looked all over Can and the US and ended up finding a car in Windsor. Got lucky I guess, which in the end made it much easier than importing one in. Thanks again to every one here for the warm welcome

Yep, I'm a member of UCR. I think that's pretty much the main one for Porsches. I could be wrong but from my experience most of the other clubs cater more to import tuners (aka rice rockets). UCR definitely seems to have 2 camps, though, the social folks and the track folks. Personally I'm in the latter, though have nothing at all against the former. There are lots of groups that run track days at the various tracks, but UCR's is probably the best for someone who's never been on a track before. Once I started progressing, though, I sort of outgrew the clubs track days - too many people and too little track time.
If you spend time at the track you'll notice that a lot of the same people show up, irrespective of who's running the event, so the group isn't really "club" dependant, I'd say. Check out the rennlist Canada forum too - lots of GTA guys there. We all met up Wed. night for a go-kart race which was a ton of fun! Not an official club, but pretty much the same thing.
