Summit Racing ignition box msd/cdi ???

Has anyone tried Summits version of a MSD?
good? bad?

I think it's actually the summit version of the Mallory hifire 6AL. I have the Mallory version and am happy with it. The big benefit is being able to set the rev limit without pills. Reliability seems on a par with MSD. Price is also much better than MSD.

To me it looks like the same features as an MSD but like you say without pills.
The non-rev limiting model is $120 bucks.
I'm going to give it a whirl.
Nothing's too cheap for "the slut"

I would get the rev limit version unless you know you have a rev limiter somewhere else in the system. One time poping out of gear or stuck open throttle and you'll destroy your engine.

Good Point.
I'm getting the correct distributor for my engine soon.
Does an '83 SC uses a rev limiter rotor?
anyone?

No. The SC distributor doesn't have a rev limiter in the rotor; it uses an electronic rev limiter, getting it's signal from the tachometer, which shuts down the fuel pump.
