How often do you rebuild your calipers?

How do you know when to do it? Is there a way to check? Thx

Yup, if it ain't broke don't fix it. There are plenty of other things to do on these cars. ;)

I have the same question. I noticed for the first time that my calipers are leaking. It was after a race, and the car sat for a long time. I noticed fluid running out on the floor.

I just rebuilt them one year ago. But I guess it's time.

Racing has a lot of adverse effects on the calipers and the rest of the brake system. Cars that are raced, do need more service on the brake system parts, far more that just a street car. The reasons should be quite obvious, high heat, wear, etc. Street cars can go for a long time before the calipers need servicing. Usually it is only when a failure occurs.

I have 83 911. 95K miles on car. Just rebuilt calipers all wheels a few weeks ago. Followed Pelican tech article.

My calipers got stuck from, I believe, lack of use (car sat for awhile). They did not leak. No issues except getting hard lines off without damaging them. Replaced one with a hard line bought locally. Hand bent it to correct shape/configuration.

Guys in my area with factory sized calipers typically have to reseal the calipers every winter due to cooked dust boots and leaking piston seals by the end of the year. This is a group of fellas who attend around 6 or so track events each year.

While with my bigger brake calipers (and less heat burdening the calipers) I can get away with at least 2 years so far without resealing. We'll see.......
