Window Moulding Clips
Hey, Does any one know where you can get the molding clips that hold the outside chrome bottom door window molding in place on a 1971 Targa?
I also have another problem. The door striker plate, where the door latch clicks into, the torqx bolts that hold it in are striped out. Anyone have any experience with these? Mine are really frozen up. Appreciate some help. Thanks, KevinS |
find the part number and Pelican Parts will locate it.

PET shows the moulding clip for a 70-73 is
999.591.326.02 and there are 14 total. :D |
That'd be great if I knew the part number. But, then I'd probably not be asking for help if I knew it. It does appear to be written anywhere on the 1/4" clip I'm holding in my hand. It is also not on the Pelican parts diagram.
Anyone offer a little better help? |
Thanks bluesky.

I searched on Pelican parts but it came up as NLA.
Anyone know where you can get these or of a substitute? |
Since our host doesn't have it, I guess it's ok to send you to Stoddard....SmileWavy
they are $0.19 a piece there. :D http://www.************* I need to order some myself.....:) |
Thanks again bluesky. I'm gonna go ahead and order 20 or so.

The screws on the "striker plate" are triple square not Torx. There are no Torx head fasteners on a 911 of the vintage of your '71. If a Torx bit was used, that may be part of the reason the wrenching features stripped. At this point using a hand impact driver (Sears sells them) with whatever type bit will engage and stay in place (one may have to sacrifice the bit by jaming it into place) may be your best option. Next step, if that doesn't work, is to drill the screw out; left hand drills are sometimes helpful as the screw will occasionally backout. Do not attempt to use an "Easyout" or other bolt removal appliance - they very rarely work but instead break off, leaving a piece of hardened steel in the center of the screw.

Thanks Jim!
Love you guys. KevinS |
