Can adjustable spring plates be powder coated?

Can the two articulating halves of the adjustable spring plates be powder coated (separately, of course), or will the coating interfere with both the height adjustment as well as the toe & camber adjustments? That is, do the matings surfaces need to be metal on metal so that they can slide better?

thanks,
Frank

IMHO, the spring plate halves can be replated (zinc or cad). New parts are plated with yellow zinc. Other than that, once adjusted, the two parts of the spring plate are bolted together, thus there is no relative movement between the two.

If you decide to powder coat, I'd mask these areas:
- Polyurethane/polygraphite bushing contact surfaces
- The slots that contain the camber and toe adjuster eccentrics
- The threaded adjuster hole
- The metal pad contacted by the adjuster

Sherwood,

Yes, I realize that there is no movement (at least there shouldn't be) once the height and alignment are set, my concern was if the coating would either interfere with the adjustments, or if the parts would have more of a tendency to shift once the fasteners are torqued down with this relatively thick coating between the two surfaces.
