What's wrong with this site?

Sometimes it's REALLY sloooooow, but,

yesterday I just gave up, couldn't even log on. Tried different computers in different locations.

What's wrong w/ the site?

lateapex911 01-20-2008 12:11 PM

I've noticed that too over the past few days.

A ok for me... super duper fast

Iowa911 01-20-2008 01:55 PM

No problems here.

dshepp806 01-20-2008 02:02 PM

no worries here on my ISP......she's painting the screen quite fast.

Best,

At least twice over the last couple days, the site wouldn't come up for me. It only seems to last for a few minutes and then it's fine again.

some days good, some days bad. sometimes i go offline and sign on again and it works. maybe it's the ISP. i think that's my problem with AOL. takes forever to load AOL newslinks, my local TV news page and various others. at the same time, others load fine.

Fighting the abstinence symptoms? :D

Agree. It's the PP site. To confirm, I had to visit other sites (craig.., yahoo email..., my work, etc.) and everything was fine; therefore, it was the PP site.

Hey it is has been slow for me as well these past couple days. Notice that the three of us on Colorado's Frontal Range===> probably comcast issues (tcar, dave and myself). YMMV

Tom '74 911 01-20-2008 04:11 PM

I've been having issues w/this site as well - seems to hang for a while sometimes.

Nickatnyt 01-20-2008 04:35 PM

Has to be a PP server issue. I can log onto tons of sites on my DSL lickety split, then PP site is slow as AOL was years ago.

today is fine though.

The CPU can't take the load of the "Grid Girls" :D

yep, go the same problems here. Just about 20 minutes ago, browser was coming up with blank pages and what not. Now, I'm speedy again. Actually, a bit faster than normal.

I wonder if Wayne is getting lots of porn in his mail account. So, when he goes to get his mail he is boggin us all down. :P

Gear is getting cheaper, maybe 2 serrvers might be better? one for mail/cart and one for the forums?

Could also be Wayne's main pipe to the server. Other folks might be clogging up his line.

This is backend problem and not end user.

But then again, if we didn't have these forums what we do with our lives :D

I'm not comcast.

Over all no problems here... I have Time-Warner Cable. Sometimes a thread will be slow to open, but then the next one opens right away. And I don't believe it's the file size either when one is slow to open.

MotoSook 01-20-2008 08:35 PM

It loads very slowly for me too. Sometimes it locks up when I try to post. When it hangs up, I go to other sites and they work fine. I think it's all the links, graphics and pictures (added to the high traffic) that hangs up the transfer from Wayne's server to my computer. It hangs up sometimes at the office T1 line too.

Sometimes it's so frustrating, I just give up and surf other sites. Probably one reason why I don't post here as much anymore. :(

Get rid of PPOT and everything will be much faster. SmileWavy

Or ban the youtube inline images?
Not sure how they affect a site.

The board is vBulletin so it most likely isn't the software.
