M06 option code

In the past there was a discussion about the M06 option code that seemed to lead nowhere. Has anyone been able to figure out what it was?

tonythetarga 01-21-2008 05:26 AM

I wonder if the M might be mistaken for a 4. I noticed you have a 1982 and this might be the answer.
"406 is the code for 50 year anniversary car [1982] "

Otherwise, the first code is 009 for 3 speed Sporto transmission.

I wish I had a 50th anniversary car. Unfortunately I don't think I'm so lucky.
I have the original sticker and it says "Option Group M06...........2,230.00

In fact I'll try to scan it so we can figure out what it isn't.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1200957239.jpg

can you post the other side of the sticker so that we can see what mileage we are supposted to get?

Any ideas on M06? Is rear spoiler referring to the tea tray tail on the back? I have the plain one as well and find it interesting that it was ordered from the factory that way. Did Porsche make it a habit to give you the original lid as well if they put the turbo-look spoiler on?

javadog 01-22-2008 04:08 AM

No, you only got one engine lid. I presume a previous owner obtained the second one somehow.

Yes, the rear spoiler refers to the tea tray tail.

If you give me some time, I may have a book at my warehouse that would answer your question about the option group.

rudderboost - I had been trying to track down an option code R64 on my 83 SC a while back. Here are the threads fome Pelican and Rennlist:

While not the same as your M-code, my R-code turned out to be a package including Bilsteins, 16" Fuchs, Foglights, Cruise Control. Maybe your M-code is a similar type package. I do not have the original window sticker, but my option codes were listed on a sticker on the underside of the front hood and on a sticker in the owners manual. It would be interesting to see if you have those stickers, and if the codes match up to your window sticker.

I worked in sales at a Porsche-Audi dealer in the early 80's. If I remember correctly Porsche-Audi USA would make up M-Codes to cover the standard USA options that many (if not all) vehickles were imported with. They would group Leather interior, sunroof, 16" wheels, etc but not all the cars would come in like this. It made it very confusing as the groups were set but sometimes there would be something missing or left off ans there would be a credit. I used to have the "sales option" book form 1981-83 but in moving several times it has gotten misplaced.

you may never find the real M-Code description unless you find the US information as these were not "exactly" factory options. If I remember correctly the M-Code sticker listed everything seperately if you have the sticker intact. Porsche-Audi USA generated the window stickers and we received the stickerwith the MSO and other paprework.

Not much help but maybe some!

I'd love to find a listing of the M codes and their content too. My 82 SC was delivered with an M07 option. I assume it was the forged 16" wheel, sport shocks, cruise control, alarm system and such.

Unfortunately I don't have the sticker that is on the backside of the hood. I've checked all of the suspect areas for it and have never been able to locate it. I'm pretty sure I have the original hood and paint, so the PO must have taken it. ..Bummer.

I think I have the std green shocks. I don't have an alarm (factory), but I do have cruise control which isn't on the sticker. Hmm I wonder if that could be something.

Check out a post on a german 911 Forum, it has a list of options in german attached to one of the posts.

Porsche didn't always use that sticker under the hood. They began using it in the eighties, I just don't know when it started. Yours probably never had it. Those that did usually had a similar sticker placed in the service booklet.

The green shocks should be Bilsteins. The standard Boge were typically black.

I'm still looking for the book I mentioned earlier. I looked at my warehouse today for an hour, with no luck. I've seen it in the last 6 months; just don't know what I did with it.

Fog Lights = $150
Sport Shock Absorbers = $180
Automatic Speed Control = $320
