how cold is too cold?

I'm sure I'm not the only one here in the N. East waiting for the cold weather to subside. I have my car winterized with a battery tender, fresh oil in the motor and stabil in the tank.

Wondering if it's warm enough outside to drive the car on the sunny days. Note that I have 20W 50 in the engine currently, which is my only concern about starting it on a cold day. Can I do damage to the internals Currently 24 here in NJ...

Thanks,

Rob

I think that 20-50 is OK for a cold start from about 25* and above. Of course if the car is in a garage that is warmer then no problem.

I just took my '89 Carrera out Sunday. It was 5* outside but the temp in my garage was 45* so no problem with the start.

If it's a Porsche, it was designed for extreme cold in Germany. Drive it, it will thank you. Fresh water washdown to remove road salt, grime etc., is recommended.
