Kinesis Porsche rims maintenance
Help , Does any of you guys know the procedure to "re-seal" a set of Kinesis three piece rims in 17in. ? , as they are leaking air badly, and the tires are new ,as well as the valve stems. I contacted Kinesis motorsports , but after being subjected to 10 minutes of having to listen to "Mexican-Rap-Noise" on "hold" , the cluless gentleman admitted the Kineseis company was sold to him , and he really didn't seem to know what a "Three-piece-wheel" was??!! ,he did start rattling on about a "gasket" and that I needed to send them in to him or he would , like, send for the "Wheel Police" to come after me! , It sounded like the cost would be equivalent to a new set of rims! , Anyone know how to re-seal these rims , before I remove from my car and have tires dismounted again!! thanks , in advance, dave

Any wheel repair shop should be able to fix your problem. We have several here in Dallas.

I was going to do this myself (when Kinesis was still in business) and was told not to attempt to re-use the bolts/nuts. The "sealer" is a silicone type that is applied to the mating surfaces of the rim halves and then the excess is wiped off (like you would do with your finger to bathtub caulking). The bolts are torqued to ~12.5-14ft/lbs. Don't know where you are but there's a place in Long Beach, CA that will inspect and rebuild Kinesis with new hardware for $50/wheel. If you need the info I think I have it at home.
Cheers,

Kinesis is DOA? Weren't there a few members here who were re-sellers? So much for my custom-fit rims...

I still make parts to fit Kinesis on a regular basis. Rebuilding a wheel is not tough, but the right sealant helps. I recomend Dow 832 or a product called "the right stuff".
Cheers

We don't make Kinesis wheels, we make rim shells to their specs as we used to supply them with parts. I used to be a kinesis dealer a few years ago but went elsewhere for better value.
I am not sure what affordable is for each person, but my prices are pretty darn good. If you want more info, PM or email me and we can discuss. Cheers
