interchangability of AAR among years?
I have a questionable AAR...i will be "ohming" it out tomorrow. If its outta spec, could I use a 77 turbo AAR on my 78SC? Since alot of people have simply removed them, is it really a big deal to use one from another year?
After researching, it seems the AAR simply supplies air at startup which keeps the RPMS up during warm up. this thread sums it up: AAR Revisited

I'll hazzard a thought....
Since the AAR is a throttle bypass valve, the year of the AAR really shouldn't matter. The degree in which it bypasses, and for how long it stays open are probably the only two differences in the model years. So, IMHO I would guess, the only real "problem" is your cold idle speed might be too high/low, and it might shut off too soon or take too long. These sound like reasonable "risks" because I can't imagine them being so different that the car is rendered undrivable.
