My New baby

Back in 2000 I had a friend stay over my house while he settled down.

During his stay he told me about a cousin of his who owned a 911 and a MB and how the guy was so ill he couldn't drive them anymore. In 02 the cousin died and since he was divorced and had no kids, the cars remained as part of the estate.

A couple of weeks ago my friend called and told me the family was selling all the toys. I immediately made an appointment, saw the car, mad an offer, and brought it home.

It's an 84 Carrera, red, with BBS wheels, the whale tail, and a Fitipaldi steering wheel. Odometer reads in the order of 8k miles.

I am not sure if its a 3.2 or 3.0 though, is it a SCRS? Sticker says manufactured in 12 83.

This is the vin: WP0AB0914ES120*** can anyone help me shed some light as to what exactly is in my garage?

thanks

Welcome, I'm not an expert by any means but it should have a 3.2. Only 8,000 miles? dang. Post a pic or 2.

Outstanding! What a beautiful car. The color is unofficially known as Arrest-Me Red for good reason. Be careful out there, but be sure to enjoy - if you state is tollerant of radar detectors - you may want to consider a Valentine 1.

Looks terrific.

Might want to check your oil level, from the first picture base on that tempature your oil might be overfilled unless you were parked on a hill

+1 on oil level.

On dipstick, should be below full,

with ENGINE RUNNING AT IDLE,

at OPERATING TEMPERATURE ( in middle of the range),

on LEVEL GROUND.

At the temp indicated on the temp gauge, it should read very low on the dash gauge.

Also, if it's been sitting for 7 years, an oil change is due.

Guys, I appreciate the valuable info.

It was a bit of an incline so I will check again tomorrow.

Florida is Ok with Rds so I will look into it cause when i looked (believe me I was hesitant to look down) I was at 120

In the next few weeks I want to refresh the gear shift coupler, was thinking about going with just a standard bushing change for now, and I think I will have to drop the engine cause valves are a bit noisy. Wish me luck.

Do a search. You can adjust valves without an engine drop.

BTW. Like the fan paint, same way I painted mine up.

My PO never quite understood the filling of the oil I know I have oil residue all through my intake I don't think will ever work itself out.

Remember if you fill it to full or close too and medium operating temp and the temp goes higher then that it may be overfull. If my needle shows that high I am usually about to burn oil or already are.

driver's seat doesn't look like an 8k mile car? It is easy to change the gauges.

Nice car & welcome! Heed the advice about oil level.

Did you receive all of the service records?

Doug

Nice car- but I don't believe it's an 8k mile car.

You can see wear on the drivers seat, map pocket, and note the floormats. Most people wouldn't paint the fan on an 8k mile car either.

If you don't know it's history it's possible the motor was rebuilt and they reset the odometer, or he just swapped another gauge in for some reason.

No matter- these cars are a hoot regardless of mileage, so get out and have some fun before summer starts and you realize how lame the AC is!!!
