sun roof noise

I have an 86 carrera, the sun roof has a pretty loud "knock" noise when i hit a good enough bump.

I unzipped the back of the headliner but i can't see any thing but a foam pad. If I pound on roof rite behind sun roof hole it makes the same noise I'mn talking about. Any one?

Have you checked the motor is tight, also sunroof drain tubes run through this section, make sure they are not broken.

Thanks-I have the book & forgot to check there. My sun roof works perfectly so hopefuly the motor is loose like you suggested, I will get into it tomorrow, it would be great to eliminate that noise.
