Help identifying strut
I'm stumped. I have a 86 911 with adjustable Koni shocks. The struts are black and the inserts are yellow. I damaged the left hand one and need a replacement so I found a red Koni strut thinking it was the same but of course they are different. The Red strut has internal threads and the black one has threads and a cap on the outside.
What strut is this black one and where can I get a replacement? Many thanks |
I don't know for sure but I think all the USA Carrera's had Boge struts. You probably have Boge struts with aftemarket Koni inserts. The configuration of the threads on top changed around 85 or so. You need the 85-89 Boge strut. Should not be hard to find....I'd call Partsheaven or another salvage shop.

I was thinking that they might be Boge. They do have a Koni decal on them but that could just have been put there. Thanks. I'll look into that.

Have you looked at the bottom of the damaged strut?
On the outside facing the wheel, there should be a manufacturer name and part#. There could be a lot of paint or dirt/grease down there. |
I need help here too. I thought (assumed) I had Boge struts (blacK) too and I was just about to order my new Bilstein Sports but upon a further inspection the upper sleeve of the strut is YELLOW. Are those KONI struts and why? I know black (Boge) and Green (Bilstein) but yellow??

Never mind I got it. Boge's come in either black or yellow strut housings.
|
HELP now I read on Steve Weiners website that Bilsteins come in either Green or Yellow
|
I have a 85 Carrera that has yellow struts but they have the Boge name stamped on them. I always wondered if there was difference between black and the yellow shocks, beside the color :)
|
the yellow or green dust covers come with the bilstein inserts that were installed in the black boge struts.
