Rear torsion bar hole
I was just looking through an RSR conversion/backdating thread and saw a mention of 'half-moon' rear torsion bar holes on later model cars. What year did they change from the full hole to the half-moon? I have and '84 TLC and would take a look myself, but don't have time to remove the rocker panel today. Thanks

the year change was MY1987 when the switch was made from the 915 to the G50 transmission.

I think it's because they had to move the Torsion tubes out a little to fit the G50. The MY87+ cars looks funny when they rockers are removed. You can get away with it on a earlier car and it looks cool, but the later cars...it's evident they didn't expect it to be left off. You can actually pull the fender out a little to remove the spring plate covers.
Funny thing about the Carerras...I see where the weight comes from. The 89 model I just helped a friend with had an extra "support" for the cat converter. ![]()

Do they make special steel flares for backdating these years?

Actually the change happened in '86 in preparation for the G50 transmission. '86 Carreras have the larger G50 TB openings.
