Where get Fuchs wheels?
Like everybody else with an SC, I want to upgrade from the optional-stock 6" and 7" by 16" Fuchs wheels that I have to 7s and 8s.
What is the best, most economical yet reliable source for them? A place like Parts Heaven? Wheel Enhancement? Stoddard? I want to get real ones, not replicas, which I assume means either used or professionally rejuvenated. And no, I don't want any other aftermarket wheels. Stephan |
I found my 7&8" Fuchs on the rennlist.com classified section. Paid $800 for wheels that were in great shape.

I have a set of full-polished 6" and 7" Fuchs sitting in my foyer. No tires. I found out my existing 16" wheels are 7s and 8s - they're ROH wheels and heavy as hell, but they're 7s and 8s for god's sake. Should I put on the Fuchs anyway?
I got them on Ebay, to answer your question. http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/smile.gif ------------------ Mark Szabo 1986 911 Targa 3.2 1987 Escort 5-speed 1.9 RIP The Porsche Owners Gallery |
When I purchased my 85 carrera it came with ROH wheels- you are right, they are heavy. I use them as my street wheels (they look great), and have several sets of 7 and 8" Fuchs that I use on the track. I would not trust the roh wheels on the track- although I have no real data to support that feeling. I can say I have autoX the car with both the roh and fuchs, and there is a big difference- the lighter fuchs feel a lot better at the edge.

I spoke with Wheel Enhancement a while back about getting wider fuchs. They would take my 6x15's in trade on 8x15's for, I believe, $500 total. Since I don't have my flares yet, I have yet to follow through. They are worth a call at least.
