Post Bumpers/fenders for 3.2 911

Hi All,

I recently saw some pictures of a 1980s ish 911 with some really cool looking front and rear bumpers in this bulletin board, but I can't find it.
I'm sure the car was blue and the front bumper looked like the classic 2.7 RS with the slot for the oil cooler under the licence plate. They made the car look squat and low a turbo look without the flared arches.

If anyone what I'm on about !!! , or has any pics I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Steve

PS This bulletin board is getting addictive !!!

Hi,

Here again - got into the web site

All I can say is WOW !!! That black beauty looks awesome. If I could sort of make my back end look like that and my front like a RS 2.7 I would be pleased.

Any suggestions

Cheers again

Steve

Try browsing the site there are literaly hundreds of permutations of 911/930 there. I find it easiest to sort by year first. Then browse.

Try having a look around GT Racing:

www.gt-racing.com

I think you might be after the 3.0RS or RSR look??

Steve

As you are in the UK try autofarm at www.autofarm.com - they have got something in that may suit

Actual site you want is http://freespace.virgin.net/auto.farm/parts.html

(look under glassfibre bumpers)

Not sure where to buy it. I think you can get a repro one in fiberglass from some of the Cali repro places but the original is supposed to be flexible poly plastic if I'm not mistaken.

Bill,

I like that bumper. It appears to extend further out than the stock valence/spoiler.

Do you have any problems with curbs and driveways?

I also couldn't tell if you retained the crash bar that protects the valence against impact. Looks like it is removed.

Yes, the Ruf does stick out further than stock to provide clearance for the oil cooler.
Yes, curbs and dips can be a problem(only real big ones though), see the scratches in the bumper below the left fog opening?
There is a nerf bar under the bumper cap bolted into the stock bumper mounts. To provide some small amount of protection.

Now that you point it out I do see the bugger on the lower drivers side.

Actually the bar I was talking about is not behind the bumper but instead under the valence panel. My '86 has this, it is just a black painted pipe about 1 inch diameter. Its purpose in life is to prevent curbs and bumps from smashing the valence.

I've heard it hit a number of times and I am glad to say it does its job.

Question

Anyone know what the price is for the RUF bumper and wheels? Is the bumper something that a normal person could install, or is it strictly a body shop thing?
