996 gauge cluster
I am thinking about putting a 996 gauge cluster into my project car. I know that it has two big plugs on the back that take care of everything, but I haven't been able to find a pinout. Has anyone used the cluster in a retrofit? Does anyone know where I can find a pinout for it?

Noooooo - the cluster is the second worst thing about the 996 after the slab-sides (OK, 3rd. Forgot the fried-eggs).

I don't have a pin out, and I know the last thing you want is another opinion, but get a 997 gauge cluster. That will also have oil temperature on it. You could also have a speedometer shop change out the faces to say anything so you could turn water temperature into a cylinder head temperature gauge for example. The 997 will have more for you to choose from.

I'll keep the 997 cluster in mind.
I found a wiring diagram for a 996, but I'm unsure of the labeling convention.  it appears to be: what the wire does| (plug number)/(pin number) (Wire area in mm^2) (color combination) (option M-code if applicable) Does this seem right? |

You will want to make sure that you use a pre-2002 cluster as most of the signal inputs for those are analog. 2002 and later get a lot of information over a CAN bus network that would make your project virtually impossible.
By the way there are 3 connectors on the back of the cluster Todd

Black Blue and White, I know. I just captured this sectrion because it showed all the labels I was asking about. I am also not going to use tiptronic, so this picture is flawed there too.
