2.4 build up questions
 

I have a stock 73 1/2 2.4T with CIS.
I have 40 webers I could through on but curious if anyone has done this with out changing pistons or cams.

what should I expect,

what low cost options do I have to beef up 2.4

In my humble opinion, Webers are a waste of good money unless you change the cams. Even the CIS system is getting very close to 1 hp per cubic inch, not bad performance at all in a 30+ year old car. I'd save my money for pistons, cams, and some porting. Jim

I concur with the above post. Furthermore, if you check market values, that 73.5 is kind of special. Recently nice examples have been changing hands for close to '70 or '71 911s prices.

In light of that, if you are serious about making some more power, you might consider picking up a 7R case and building an engine from scratch to run with the carbs since you'd be replacing cams and pistons anyways. Then you can put your complete original engine with CIS under a tarp in the corner while you rip around in your hot rod.

I know you said you wanted cheap options, but with Wayne's book and the help of people here, you can build an engine for yourself. While it will cost a bit of money and may mean a year or two until you realize the power gains, it will be worth it in the end. At least that's how I approach such things...
