2.8 RSR engine shroud color?
Car is a '73 and was a 2.4 T model so the cover was yellow. Then the motor was rebuilt to 2.7 RS spec and the shroud was painted red like an S model. Now the next and hopefully last generation is a 2.8 RSR spec. So what color was the engine shroud? I have heard both blue and black as well as unfinished fiberglass. Does anyone know the answer?

Thanks for the reply. It is universal then as I got the same response on the engine rebuild forum. So I have a bit of paint removal to put on my list. Body and paint complete. Motor and trans ready by spring.

While we are at it I am planning on using this car as a daily driver in the off winter months and would like to remove the factory air cleaner. Any photos of watershed carb air filters modified to fit on MFI set up? Any photos of how you cut the cover and what you did with the oil vent hose off the tank?
Thanks, Greg |
Greg-
You don't need watersheds for MFI. You can use the PMO filter tops that are just as wide as the filter elements. This gets you to one less thing to cut, and saves a little weight and space. did you see this?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-used-parts-sale-wanted/389596-wanted-watershield-kit-mfi.html Take note that the fan shrouds are not painted, but have colored gel coat. There are various suppliers of new, raw fiberglass shrouds. I want one. BAD. -Scott |
I just discovered the gel coat. Oh well, plan B. I do like the PMO filter set up. I will take a good look at that as the solution.
