Setting timing on 78 SC...
I just finished the install of my carrera chain tensioners, along with new oil return tubes, and turbo valve covers to cure my oil leaks. The problem is I now need to set my timing, and I don't know the specs. If anyone could please help me out I would appreciate it.

Disconnect the vacuum hose(s) to the distributor. Set the idle speed down to 950. Set timing at the 0 mark on the crankshaft pully with the timing light set at 5 deg BTDC advance. If your light does not have this advance, set it at the 5 mark on the pulley.
Reconnect the hose and reset the idle where you want it. I believe spec is somewhere around 950-1100. I set mine at 1000 and it seems to work quite well. My dash tach is off (low) by about 200 RPM's, so it helps to have a timing light with a tach on it to set everything. Good Luck.
