Not exactly bay area, but close- S-Car-Go. Rob King did my PPI and fixed a few things before I picked up my car- heck of a guy!

south bay - Don's AutoWerks - friendly/fair - seem very good with SC's/Carerras - between Don and Worth probably 60+ years experience on these cars... of course they have later models in there all the time. I like the time when I went there after installing engine after DIY topend - that they helped me alot - and it didn't start.... Worth said probably left the ground group off the #1 intake.. sometimes they slip down and you forget.... sure enough

i like valhalla in layfayette. the owner is hot/cold in mood. it is always a treat to go to find out what you find. he is very old school and can fix a car great. it has been awhile, as i try to DIY.

Porsche shop in San Carlos

I love my shop. San Carlos German Motor Works in San Carlos. 650-591-3800. At the corner of El Camino & Holly St. The owner Scott is very fair and does great work. He has been in the same location for many years. It's a plus that he owns my year a 993. As an example Scott charges me $175 for an oil change. Additionally they saved me a ton of money when I needed to have my breather tubes cleaned out to pass smog. Porsche wanted thousands to remove the engine and reem the tubes out. Scott did a flush job with chemtol at a fraction of the cost. Not only that I had him re-set the computer 6-7 times before I had the work done, he never charged me once. One thing I learned, when going for a smog test makes sure the engine is HOT. For some reason when it's cold smog testers don't like the 993. And by the way he doesn't mind you bringing in you own parts. Tell him James Glidden said hey.

Devek is also a well known shop in San Carlos but I have not used them.

Regarding Devek...be careful as there has been lots of changes from company perspective. They were mainly focused on 928 anyways...

another vote for s car go- rob king is the man. when you see him work, describe a problem, etc you can see that he just knows- no bs- he knows and has done it before and will do it again. he has built some sick cars too- anyone remember the mean ol red 930 slant featured in a mag last year?

s car GO! (I live in LA but he's done a ppi on my car and some follow up work as my folks are in the bay-)

Do not forget Hi-Tech auto where Rob at scargo cut his teeth so to speak. Deven and his brother have been there for years and are great to work with.
Not sure why you would not call San Rafael in the bay area???
Been to scargo as well and they are great for anything especially if it's mods, but damn is he busy.

I recently had a good experience with Hollerans Performance in Pinole. Valhalla is also a good option in the east bay.

BW's VWs and Porsches

Bill Wortz runs a small shop in Mountain View, CA. He always appears to have my best interest at heart even if it negatively affects his pocket book. Because of that, I keep coming back... so in the long run... I trust it has a positive effect on his pocket book.

I agree with Hollerans Performance, took the boxster to him for the 30kmile service, cost almost a third of what the dealer would have charged.

Another really strong vote for Don's Auto Werks in Campbell.
I went to numerous mechanics in the Bay Area as I moved around a fair a bit and Don was the only one I felt was trying to save my some money AND was willing to indulge me with the myriad questions I had from knowing just enough to "be dangerous" thanks to this board.

Amazing guy with incredible skill. Took great care of my high mileage DE/daily driver 88 Carrera and is currently watching over my mother's Boxster S and my buddy's 59 Convertible D. From 356 to 996, I vote for Don.
