I decided to trade my 72S (with Carrera 3.0 Engine) for the C2 Cabriolet Tiptronic. I know to some its an absurd trade but I was looking at a lot of repairs that I just couldn't afford. My plan is to start saving and buy another project for a weekend/track/fun car but I need something to drive every day. I plan on getting a inurance write off stripped SC/Carrera, putting on lightweight bumpers, 3.0 SC engine with carbs as described by Mr Anderson, and make it look like a 73 Carrera RS (Maybe RSR). I havent lost the true path only gone on a detour for practicality.
Anyway, does anyone know if a performance chip is available for the 964 tip transmission Control Unit. Shifts seem unnecisarily long. Some searching on the net found chips available for Audis but no mention of Porsche. The Audi chips drop shifts down from 1 sec to 0.2 seconds with better shift point mapping. Clay,
Hope you enjoy your new wheels- it shouldn't be too difficult. If project 2 goes ahead, your going to get the best of both worlds! Enjoy the C2 first though before you disappear into a darken garage. ------------------ Marcus '73 S Targa |

You and Tyson (Brainiac) now share the same set of 'problems' -- a C2 and a 72. We should all be so lucky to have problems like that.
The C2 is a very comfortable daily driver, and no slouch in the performance department. As a guy with both of those cars wrapped into one, I can see the advantage of splitting the job in two -- one refined car for the girlfriend or wife to ride in, and one more raw example, where you maybe only have one seat in it in total. ------------------ Jack Olsen 1973 911 T (3.6) sunroof coupe jackolsen@mediaone.net |
