original RS/RSR skid plates

hi guys,

i have found these things to put underneath our 1969 911T, to protect the engine and fueltank during our trip to China later this year;

Original RS RSR aluminum Skid Plates for 911

For Fuel Tank, Engine and Gearbox Protection

Has anybody got any idea how much these are worth? The seller asked me to make an offer...

the brackets are not included, so i'm going to have to make some of my own.

thanks for your replies!
cheers, jan

HI Jan
I would price them up at the price of the material you would bye to make them , as the front is not a RS fuel tank guard due to it being ally and not steel, it also has no brackets and the original has . As for the rear!!!.

I think you have been diddled on the description and as for the price,

will post you a photo of a original front tank guard for the plastic tank tomorrow, for you to com-pear.

regards mike

skid plates

You're going to get alot of opinions on this...........so here it goes. The taller of the 2 plates, does NOT look like the factory original that I have. I bought it NOS and it is complete with brackets mounting hardware. Maybe there are more than one version, but I have never seen any others listed. I paidm over the moon for mine, but it had parts sticker on it and had never been installed. Once they have been used and stripped of their mounting hardware, you have nothing to start with but bare metal! That could be an expensive" jump" unless these came with documentation.

Good luck.

hi guys, thanks for the answers so far,

yeah, i just copy pasted the info from the seller's site, i have no clue if they are really original or not (apparently not)

and it is indeed true that without mounting brackets, there's a lot to be figured out to mount these...maybe it is better to start from scratch and decide on our own where and how to mount a skid plate/protection plate...

i was thinking to fabricate something bigger for the front: a plate starting from under the tank, and curving all the way up to the bumperettes to protect the complete front side.

cheers, jan

PS would anybody have mounting instructions for skidplates, and be willing to scan them, and post them up?
