New Ac Idea For 911, Is It Possible

It is universally accepted that in a 911 the OEM clock's highest and best use is as a plug to fill the hole in the dash. There have been some very good ideas for alternatives or replacements for the clock such as volt meters.

One such use is as a vent in race-track cars to get fresh air to the driver. I do not see why it could not become an AC vent. One of the many short comings of the 911 ac system is the poor supply of air into the cabin.

Any thoughts; summer is going to be here in a couple months.

An additional vent won't help. You'll still get the same amount of total air flow, no matter how many vents you have. All you're doing is redirecting some of the existing air.

BTW, my clock works great and I use it all the time.

+1
You'd have to block off other vents to force the air through less space. It might seem stronger and it'll blow in your face so that's a plus. I'm lucky as when it gets too hot, I've got the largest vent ever put in a Porsche....I put the top down :D

si banker, air velocity is the one problem the '86-89 Carreras didn't have. I pulled my AC, but left the blower system in just for the amount of air it can move around the cabin.

I thought about doing this a few years ago so talked to the shop owner I take my cars to. He said it is difficult to get from the ac ducting to the clock face. He's owned over 2 dozen 911's (has a 2005 Ruf turbo now) so I feel he knows his cars. I'd love to do it and thought about adding a small fan in the opening to help with air flow. If you get it to work let us know. Summer is approaching here in Humidston, Texas.

Just take off the bowtie and put a vent on it that you can direct where you want it.
Actually helps a lot.

Did that using an old vacuum hose that was sitting around the garage. Works great when directed at me.

Blower motor

Any chance of a stronger blower motor

Have you upgraded the AC components si?

Having the air cold actually helps alot.

I'd suggest you track down Mark Wilson. I remember him making some big improvements to the a/c on his old SC $$.

Cheers,
