Door Alignment: end of adjustment & still off
 

I need some advise on my door alignment. I installed the doors on my project car over the weekend and I adjusted the driver side door to the max on the bottom and i am still off by about 5mm. The hinge is already against the jamb and i will have to start cutting into something if i want to go any further. maybe i am just missing something. Below are some pictures. If anyone had a similar problem, how did you fix it or any suggestions to fix this please... :(

This was a "new" door that i got to replace my driver side door that was rusted and i found out too late poorly repaired. I got the door after the car went to the paint shop and i couldn't fit it and it seems that they overlooked it as well.

move the fender out.

I will loose the alignment between the fender and the sill, but I'll have to do that if there is no other way.

you loosen all the bolts bottom to top where the fender attaches to the cowl wing and push up from the bottom so the fender bows out.

It might be an illusion but that looks like a large shim is still in place between the hinge and body. Your post sounded like you're trying to move the door forward, so you'd definitely want no shims.

The shims provides horizontal alignment which is ok, the vertical alignment is out at the bottom, needs to move in toward the body, or as John has explained the fender needs to move out.
