My 85 rear seat backs have the leather strap/snap set-up and of course the leather strap has SNAPPED! Since I will be showing the car in the "preservation" class in my local concours event this May, do I go to a local upholstery shop and have a new fabricated strap put back on , or, could I buy a set of used rear seats that have the later style "push button" seat back locking system-a system I would much rather have? Originality counts in this class and, to my surprise, my original owners manual shows the seats as having the push button locking system-go figure?

All I can help with is that your owners manual likely shows the button type for the cabriolet owners. . . .86 button type became standard on the turbos; 87 for all else.

For a local PCA event, it won't matter which one you do.
