I've seen quite a few examples posted lately of cars with the ruf bumpers. I think they really smooth out the lines by getting rid of all the rubber trim and bellows from the factory bumpers, really updating the look of the cars. My question is - where is the cheapest place to obtain ruf bumpers and how much are they? Is there a company out there that makes a more reasonably priced copy? Thanks for your help.

BW Motorsports 618-277-2524
$625 for the front $525 for the rear...not bad of a price for the look that it gives your car! ------------------ 85.5 Porsche 944 |

Are the bumpers BW Motorsports sells fiberglass or the flexible Poly plastic?
In other words, are the really Ruf bumpers, or are they knockoffs? (not that I have a problem with knockoffs.) Tom 82 SC Coupe |

Only the Ruf spoiler(mounts under the stock al. bumper was polyurethane. the full bumper cap(replaces the oem al. bumper, bellows etc.) as sold by Ruf and BW and others is fiberglass. The Ruf does have a rubber chin spoiler which the knockoffs do not supply.
![]() You can see the oem Ruf lip under the bumper cap. The Ruf did provide a very nice oil cooler which is mounted in the bumper cap rather than to the chassis as is usual for such installations ie the cooler comes off with the bumper. |

Always consider the whole deal when asking about the bumper prices.
You will need the bumpers, oil cooler, SS braided 16AN oil cooler lines and fittings, mounting hardware, bumper sanding and prep, and then a good paint job. Plus if you are wanting the rear bumper at the same time it is a good time to change exhaust systems also. Like to a dual outlet system. Also a bonus is that you can lighten up the front of the car by about 60-80 pounds depending on how agressive you are with the weight reduction. My ball park estimate is between $3-4K for the whole deal, not including a different muffler. ------------------ Adrian Pillow 1979 911 SC 1966 VW Microbus PCA - Peachstate Region |

So you cant just put the bumpers on without moving the oil cooler?

No you don't have to move the oil cooler. It is a better setup though. I have done the fiberglass RUF bumpers. I got them from MA Shaw.
Bill will the rubber chin spoiler fit on my fiberglass RUF bumper? |

I was going to ask the same question.
I do understand that, often-times, quite a bit of work is required to get the fiberglass aftermarket stuff to work out. Also, some of it is poorly finished, and significant prep work is involved. This is what really adds to the expense. If the product is manufactured well with a good finish, and requires only a "bolt up" operation, then only simple prep, paint and installation is necessary. My shop wanted $240 to R&R, prep and paint my front valance, plus install a chin spoiler. As such, I don't think it would too awfully expensive if its high quality stuff. |

Yes, the lip will fit on any f/g bumper with a bottom shaped like this front _] back the lip is just flat HD rubber held in place by al. strips through bolted.
