I have a 88 carrera guards red from the factory. I think it is clearcoat because the spoiler is peeling a little on the edges, but maybe the spoiler was added. How can I find out the original options of my car? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance

wax a part of the hood with some mild cleaner/wax and a white towel. If no red appears on the towel, its clearcoated. If even a little red appears, it is not.

I came across the same situation buying my 88...I wanted to know if the tail is factory. The best advice I heard was that the factory put double (1 each side)lifters on the tail if they intstalled it. I'd guess if the car has a single pressure tube the spoiler was probably added later. I don't think it really matters since there appears to be no other difference that I could determine.
Later, Buck Maxey 88 coupe (w/ factory spoilers) |

Contact Porsche Club North America for info on original equipment, where it was delivered, etc. Surely there is a link to the PCNA website somewhere. They gave me the information over the phone.
