Carrear tensioners into 3.0 - drill & tap chain cover?

The right side chain cover for a used Carrera chain tensioner kit I have doesn't have the hole for CIS 15*C temperature switch (930 606 117 00). I understand it controls "open" to "closed" loop operation of CIS based on the engine temperature. Also I don't think the same switch is used for Motronic cars, hence the missing hole.

I'm gonna go ahead and drill/tap a hole for the switch. Just wondering if this is a standard procedure as I can't find any info in the archives. Does a new upgrade kit for pre-84 cars come with the cover already tapped?

Edit - Well, this is from Pelican website:

I guess that answers my question.

The new replacement covers that are used for the engines through 1983, already have both, L+R, covers tapped with plugs installed.

To clarify, the new replacement covers that are to be used with the Carrera type tensioner upgrade on the earlier engines already have both sides tapped and plugged.

That's what I thought. Mine must have come off a 84- Carrera.
