Post anyone powder coat their rims

I have fuchs rims on my 72 911. Black centers. My question is this: Has anyone powder coated the entire rim black-polished part also. I have seen rims that are completley black that look great. Can this be done?
Has any one done it and for how much?
thanks

My father-in-law powder coats the wheels on the various Model A's he gets and sells. They look fabulous and he swears they help the tires seal better. Skinny and tall tires that could lose form at high speed, seals are very important.

Any other opinions? I think the Fuchs look great the way they are.

He has a shop in Houston that he goes to. They usually dip in a colour being done for someone else and it saves him a ton.

I local PCA club guy had a set of cookie cutters powder coated yellow on a black car and it looks sweet! In theory it sounds nutty, but looked good in reality.

I would not coat real Fuchs though. Too valuable to mess with. If they are repos do whatever you want.

I have seen other people with Fuchs coat the inner portion and leave the aluminum look lip which is sharp.

I think this service should be about $35 a wheel.

I had the centers of my Kinesis K5's powder painted by Kinesis when I purchased them. The powder paint is more durable than regular paint but not as durable as the oem Fuchs anodizing when it is in good shape.

Don't remember exactly, maybe $25-50 per wheel, it was very minor relative to the cost of the rims themselves.

I'm planning on powder painting my rims this summer. Some friends are getting the tools to powder paint at home. They say it will only cost $50 is supplies to paint my wheels. However, you first have to bring them down to bare metal. But for $50 its worth it.

Bill, those rims look sweet!
