Sound Insulation Pad?

Our host lists a foil backed sound insulation pad for the engine compartment and I'm wondering if anyone has experience with one. I'd like to replace the original in my car but would this one be at least equal in sound deadening?
Thanks,
Jerry Weiland

Do a search- lots of opinions already posted.
From my very limited experience, I replaced the original in my SC (which was falling off the bulkhead) and opted for the foil version. Can't say how much sound difference that made because of all the other work I did while I had the engine out (SSI, M&K muffler (gorgeous by the way!), 964 cams) so I would have more noise regardless. The reason I would recommend the foil one is simply because it is so much easier to see inside the engine compartment now with a flashlight and mirror.

Taking the old one out makes a mess- make sure you have good FME covers on everything...

Hi Matt,

Many thanks. You're right. I should have done a search before posting. It didn't occur to me but at age 70, lots of things skip by. Just one thing...... FME?
