Gents,
I've found an excellent site on the web for the list of things that have to be done to convert a car to U.S. Specs. The is also a list of approved importers that can do the conversion that make the process a lot easier (although more expensive). My current plan to bring my P-Car home from Germany is to do as many of the external conversion that does not require invernal modification picture verification myself. Any experience with this out there? Does anyone have a set of H-5 headlights for a C4 that they would like to sell reasonably? I've yet to see any on EBay and Pelican does not sell them. Have not checked with my local Porsche Dealer yet. Here is the conversion site: http://wallacelab.com/AutoImports.htm Steve '93 C4 |

Steve, be careful. Some of these places are more reputable than others. I can get an inside track since I know a person that works for Jaguar that is responsible for this kind of stuff for the US. She is married to my former gliding instructor. I in actuality am passing on her warning to me from when I was going your route.

George,
Thanks for the advice. I have some time to try to get the story strait and find the best way to do it. I figure the worst that I can do is sell a partially converted car here in Germany. Humm, I wonder if they like the US mods as much as the US likes the EURO. In any case if your friend has a recommendation for better companies to do the conversions I sure would like the info. I'll be sure to post the progess on the BBS. Thanks again George! Steve 93 C4 (Euro State side bound!) |

Just an idea, as the import usually works in the other direction:
Maybe it's worth to look for a German shop re-importing P-cars. They may have the US-spec parts you need for a reasonable price handy... Jens |
